I am back!!! :)

Good Morning everyone, I know you have missed me! Let’s just say this cold winter got the best of me. I had a cold from hell. So now I am back and have two authors I want to tell you about. I am going to start off with someone who has inspired me. She is part of the reason I started writing again. She is one of the most encouraging people I know. That being said let me introduce her to you.
My question are in blue and my guest is in red

Could you please introduce yourself to everyone?

Hello everyone. I’m Denysé Bridger, author of far too many books for me to remember! I publish an online magazine, have recently designed a couple of covers for my books, and just generally do a little of everything that appeals to me. Over the past year I have been lucky enough to become an Amazon Top Ten Best-selling author in several categories, as well as having numerous best-sellers with ARe All Romance eBooks. Thank you for asking me to be here sharing your space.

Would you like to share any work you have done or doing?

I’m currently working on my first series ever, and loving the creation of something that is very different for me. I have no idea when the first book will be published since this is all still in the planning and writing stages, but I hope next year is the launch of a whole new career track for me. Only time will tell of course. I’m also finishing up a novel set in my beloved Italy, and that one has been a long time coming. It’s going to be a very interesting year with lots of new material that I hope will appeal to readers, old and new. I’ve set up Pinterest visual boards so readers can see who I’ve cast in several of the new projects. You can find those boards HERE

Do you have a favorite genre to write or read in?

I read in a lot of genres, and write in many, as well. I don’t have a particular favourite as I enjoy a lot of styles of stories. Lately I’ve been reading a lot of romantic suspense stories, and have discovered the Harlequin Love Inspired imprint. Some excellent authors, and wonderful novels in that line.

Did you always want to write or what inspired you to do it?

I don’t know if writing was ever a conscious choice, or if it’s something I simply always did. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t putting words on a page. I wrote my first stories and even a novel by hand, then typed it up on a typewriter. Then I went to word processor, and finally computer. Damn, I hated that transition. I was frightened to death of attempting to write with a computer. But, obviously, I got over that particular phobia. I’ve been pretty lucky mostly, I had people in my life who saw a writer in me long before I did.

Do you need a nice quiet space to write or are you blasting your music and writing?

Depends, really. I can do both. As I write this, I have the TV on, my mom’s watching a movie. I frequently have music on in the background, or more often the howl of wolves, which I find very soothing. Most of the music I listen to these days is Italian, easy listening, that kind of thing, so it doesn’t destroy my concentration.
If you could give one tip to someone who wants to write what would it be?

Don’t let anyone discourage you if you are really driven to write. But, if your desire to write also includes a desire to publish, then you have to be willing to invest a lot of time and dedication. And, more than anything, you have to learn to separate your ego from your craft. For a lot of people that’s an obstacle they don’t overcome with much grace.

What is the big dream? In other words where would you like your writing to take you to in the future?

Ideally, I’d like to be writing for a big publisher, and focusing more on writing than marketing and promotions. I have a whole series of books I want to get written, but finding time to do it is getting to be the real challenge. For mid-level authors, the promotional end of things takes up more and more time, and it’s always a trade-off that seems to mean less writing time.

If you could meet anyone living or dead who would it be?

Arthur Conan Doyle or Margaret Mitchell. It would be fascinating to talk to the creator of Sherlock Holmes, or Ms. Mitchell’s Scarlett O’Hara. Two of the most memorable literary characters of the modern era.

Now the fun questions:

Do you like pizza or salad?

Salad most of the time.

What do you like more cake or fruit?

            Cake with fruit on it!

What is your favorite kind of music?

Depends on my mood most of the time. I love Italian music, a lot of popular music, easy listening, rock, country, a little bit of everything. I also love Blues and Jazz.

 Who is your favorite Author?
If I had to choose only one, it would be Arthur Conan Doyle. In terms of living/current authors, Lucy Monroe, Lara Adrian, Elizabeth Goddard, Annie West, C.J. Cherryh, Terry Brooks. See, too many to pick just one.

Do you like Vampire, Werewolf, Fairy or shifter men when you read for pleasure?

Lately I haven’t read any of the paranormal stuff, but once again, it depends largely on the mood. I’ve read more vampire fiction than any of the other options, and written it, as well. Lucan Thorne, Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed Gen One vampire is one of my all-time favorite characters.

 Do you have pet's?

My sister’s gorgeous Siberian Husky is the family pet. If I could, I would rescue an abandoned Husky, because I adore them.

Do you have favorite wild animals?

Wolves… one of God’s most beautiful and perfect creatures.

Do you like city or suburbs better?

I like extremes, big cities like New York, and the other end of the scale, too.

If you could live anywhere where would it be?

I’d love to live on a mountain somewhere in a cabin.

Do you like guys with tattoos?

No. I really don’t like tattoos on anyone for the most part.

Do you have a favorite place you like to be?

Home. Mostly I just like to be in my house, comfortable and relaxed.

I enjoyed doing this interview with Denysé Bridger because I think she is a great author and friend. I hope you give her a try if you haven't read anything  by her yet.

Coming Soon from Evolutionary Publishing, Shades of Death returns:

Death has many shades and shapes... Deep within the ageless Carpathian Mountains, an ancient evil wakes. Imprisoned many centuries ago, the creature has waited, patiently, for the one destined to grant her freedom. Arienne Lereaux has studied the preternatural menace called "vampyre" for most of her life. She is an expert in the field. Loosely affiliated with a secretive organization called The Institute of Paranormal Research and Investigation, she turns to them when she unearths what may be the first representation of the vampyre ever to exist.

The enigmatic and attractive Head of the Institute, Adam Raven, has spent a lifetime tracking the clues left by his mother's disappearance in the mountains of Romania nearly twenty years past. When Arienne arrives at the secluded island headquarters of the Institute, he wonders if she holds the key to finding his lost mother. But before too many days pass, the city of Vancouver is rocked by a series of grisly murders. As it races to find the culprit, the Institute faces an evil unlike any it has encountered before...

In the middle of their hunt, another branch of their network is making a scientific breakthrough in genetically heightened telepathy. The team responsible may soon hold a weapon that will have world powers at their door—until their lead scientist vanishes after leaving Toronto to consult Raven and his people. Ancient myth is suddenly not myth, and evil may take many guises before the Institute can restore the delicate balance that was destroyed the night Arienne stumbled into a remote castle in the mountains half a world away…

I couldn't resist showing you these books as well.

So it's time for dessert and you want a cake that is just right. Why not try a chocolate swril cake? I have never made this cake before because, I am making it up as I go. So cross your fingers.

What you need:

Beat together shortening and vanilla for 30 seconds medium speed with

an electric mixer. Add 2 cups of powdered sugar a bit at a time while

Just Let Me Love You EXCERPTS:

EXCERPT 1:

KAY:

Scrubbing his hand down his face, he says, “My heart belongs to you, Kay…all of it.” He sighs. “But I don’t know if that’s enough.”
“What do you mean?”
“My heart is all cut up, baby girl. Part of my heart died when my father died. And part of it is wrecked from my past.”
My own heart aches at hearing his words. I can feel his pain.
“My heart’s all parceled up, too,” I remind him.
He looks over at me, sadness in his blues. “There’s still more than enough for me,” he whispers.
I place my hand on his chest, right where his heart is. “There’s more than enough in here”—I tap his chest—“for me, too.”

EXCERPT 2:

CHASE:

The Las Vegas I know oh-so-well, however, sure isn’t something I’d ever show Kay. She knows my past, most of it, but there’s no need to revisit the pit stops I traveled along the way. If we did, my Vegas tour would be filled with dark alleys, dark apartments, and the darkest of nights. Nights shaded in tones of addiction, sorrow, and despair.
Would I show beautiful, gentle Kay where I used to score coke, coke that would leave my head feeling like it was exploding? Or would I spin her by the old apartment and show her where Will and I spent many a night alone while Mom was off gambling. Hell, I could take her to the convenience store around the corner from that apartment. I could point out the aisle where I once stole a can of Spam. That can of mystery meat provided a makeshift holiday dinner one year when Mom forgot to come home on Christmas Eve.
Would I show Kay that shit? Short answer: No.

 EXCERPT 3:

KAY:

I touch his lips, mouthing the word, “Soft.”
He smiles.
I laugh.
Lowering my hand, I grasp his solid bicep. “Hard,” I nod and raise my eyebrows. “Actually very hard,” I add. “Impressive.”
This time, Chase laughs.  But he quiets when I skim my hand across his chest and stop at his heart. “Soft” I whisper, “so very soft.”
Chase grabs up my hand. “Kay…”
His eyes on mine say everything he does—or cannot—say.
“Go,” I tell him, turning away. “Go, before I try and stop you.”
I hear him sigh.
I hear him close the door.
And then he’s gone.
The outcome of this night is now in fate’s hands.

EXCERPT 4:

CHASE:

Sending Kay back to Harmony Creek turns out to be one of the hardest things I have to do. She’s become such a part of my life. It’s like when Kay breathes, I breathe.
Before my love boards the plane, she wraps her little arms around me best as she can.
In a choked-up voice, she says, “Do you realize this will be the first time we’ll be apart since we met?”
Surely that can’t be right.
“Wait,” I say. “We spent our nights apart in the early days. Remember, we didn’t sleep in the same bed until after we were together for almost a month.”
The first might spent together was when Kay showed up on my doorstep, frightened and hurt from the junkie that had accosted her in her old apartment parking lot.
With her cheek pressed firmly to my chest, she murmurs, “Still, Chase, we’re together every day. Even when I was mad at you over the incident with Missy…”
She trails off, and I murmur, “Ah, yes, the incident with Missy.”
Kay was pissed when she learned I had an encounter, of the sexual variety, with her friend. Although, in my defense, it happened before I met Kay. And she wasn’t so much mad over the event, she was pissed I’d never told her.
But that was then, and this is now.

Ok,  today is blue Monday. Something about this Monday makes everyone blue, it has to something to do with people getting their credit card bills from Christmas and all that stuff. So why not save some money and make a simple hot fudge cake? Sounds good doesn't it? Well let's see how simple it is.

This is what theirs looks like.... any bet's on what mine will look like?

Good morning everyone!  Well it's been cold and snowy out, so what better way to warm you up than some baking? I wanted to try the new quick breads.
These are said to be easy and no one can mess it up. (They don't know me to well do they?)
So the cinnamon swirl one comes with two packets inside, both are clearish so make sure you only use the one that looks like flour first.  I use a wisk to sift it before I add the wet stuff.

Butter a loaf pan and line parchment paper. Then pre-heat the oven to 350° f
 Add 3/4 cups of water
3 tablespoons of oil
2 eggs

So you scoop some of the batter into the loaf pan I did about half. Then you sprinkle around half of the cinnamon mixture on the middle. Then add the rest of the batter and top it of with the cinnamon mixture.
I poked a few holes down to swirl it a bit more.

Cook for 45 to 55 minutes. Let it stand for 20 minutes.  Yours should look like this.
These are amazing and quick easy breads to make. They taste really good.

Gizmo report:
Hi everyone, happy New Year, I hope you had a great holiday season. I hope everyone is staying warm.
Mom Elizabeth and Dad Lorne brought home something I wasn't to happy with.
This is Willow she is some breed of dog known as a catz.
Now I haven't had much experience with catz and I don't like many of them. She has pointed ears and a tail that waps me in the face. Do you want to know the strangest thing? She has these sharp things on the end of her paws that she can swipe you with. There was a few swipes at first I must say.
But now over a month later everyone is getting along. I have even snuggled with her( but shhh don't tell anyone)
So I guess we can keep this latest addition to the house.

I'm E.J Babcock I hope you enjoyed my blog. I hope you have a wonderful day/night.
